In 2015, BCD Sports were one of only a handful of Official Travel Agents in New Zealand for the Netball World Cup (Sydney, August 2015). Offering a range of packages, including the full “Follow the Ferns”, Opening Weekend, Finals Weekend, the Business End (a combination of the last few round robin games and the Finals Weekend) and "Flight & Ticket”, we covered every base. Package prices ranged from $900 for two nights accommodation and tickets to the Finals Weekend through to $2,500 for 10 Nights accommodation and tickets to every day of the tournament.

As we look ahead to 2019 we are aiming to once again be official and to offer a range of packages suited to varying budgets. As this tournament will be held in the UK, our approach will most likely include a fully inclusive tour as well as independent packages to suit travellers needs.

Our team have all travelled extensively through this part of the world (most of us have lived there at some point!) and know the UK and Europe well. Why not start saving now and join us on tour with the option to add on pre/post event travel?

We will be keeping a close eye on the Netball World Cup 2019 in Liverpool with the aim to provide you with the same high level of service and fantastic product as we did in 2015.

Tour Hosts - 2015

In 2015, BCD Sports had the pleasure of working with some of the best tour leaders we could have hoped for! We had the ever lovely Julie Coney along with partner, former All Black Joe Stanley, and the Kiwi loving Australian Julie Fitzgerald. Their behind the scenes knowledge and insight was ever valuable on tour, along with their great attitude and brilliant ability to bring together the group. From sitting with you at the netball to staying in some of our hotels, socialising with you and assisting at our morning hospitality desks (main hotels).

Julie Coney and Joe Stanley

Julie Coney (nee Townsend) has had a lifetime in netball.  Playing representatively for province (Otago, then Auckland), country from 1976 to 1992 and Julie was part of the winning World Cup team in 1987.  She was captain for a stint in 1990 as well.  Since then Julie has travelled to each and every World Cup, either as a TV commentator (17 years from 1992 to 2009) or tour host.  Julie was deservedly awarded an MBE for services to Netball in 1990.

Since finishing her Netball playing career, Julie has had over 25 years experience in the travel, conference, event and hospitality industries. She co-owns coneystanleyEvents with partner Joe Stanley and completed 17 years of expert netball commentary for TVNZ for until 2012.  Julie is an exceptional tour host and wonderfully fun company.

Joe Stanley is one of this country’s best known and loved All Blacks.  Playing 49 games for the All Blacks (including 27 tests) between 1986 and 1990, Joe also captained the team on 2 occasions.  Joe also has 15 years experience in travel and corporate hospitality, hosting multiple sporting tours and co-owning coneystanleyEvents.

Julie Fitzgerald

Julie Fitzgerald has had a long standing career coaching netball both in Australia and here in New Zealand. Coaching the Sydney/NSW Swifts for 15 years between 1997 and 2011, Julie really made her mark, even receiving the Netball Australia Coach of the Year award in 2008 and coaching the World Sevens squad in 2007. Moving on from the swifts Julie took on the role of Assistant coach of the Australia Diamonds for 2011 & 2012, whilst at the same time holding the position of Head Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport. These last couple of years have seen Julie working as the Head Coach for the Kia Magic and building a strong following of kiwi Netballers and supporters alike.
